Bachelor Sustainable Transformation Management

The international Bachelor's program Sustainable Transformation Management (STM) at Campus Remagen combines solid foundations in economics and social sciences with real-world sustainability management – preparing you to actively shape transformation processes in business and society. The program brings together economics, social sciences, and technology management into one interdisciplinary whole. Your Topics – From Climate Action to Digital Transformation

From day one, you engage with the defining questions of our time:

The program is built around a truly global community: around two thirds of students come from abroad – from countries such as China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. Every day, you work alongside people from different cultures and ways of thinking, developing exactly the competencies the global job market demands. A large part of the program is taught in English. A defining feature of STM is the Double Degree pathway: depending on where you start your studies, you may have the option – or the requirement – to spend two semesters at a partner university abroad and earn two bachelor's degrees within a single program. Students starting in Remagen can also choose a single semester abroad or complete the entire program at the Campus.

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following basic requirements: 

• Successful completion of the university entrance examinations at the required level
• Proof of English language proficiency, e.g. IELTS 6.0

After the application period, a Selection Committee will invite shortlisted candidates for an interview. The final admission decision will be based on both academic performance and the interview results. All interviews will be conducted in English.

The STM program spans six semesters and is structured in clearly defined phases – from economic and management foundations through interdisciplinary specialization to practical application and thesis. Throughout, core management content and sustainability-focused modules are deliberately combined to build a coherent and transferable skill set.

From Theory Into the World

The first two semesters establish the academic foundation at your home university, taught in your local language. Alongside economics and quantitative methods, you are introduced to the central themes of the STM program – including innovation management and design thinking. The STM-specific modules are taught online together with students from partner universities worldwide, creating international connections well before the cohort meets in person.

In the third and fourth semesters, the entire cohort comes together at Campus Remagen, studying fully in English. You deepen your knowledge in areas such as sustainable entrepreneurship, digital transformation, and technology management. Elective modules allow you to build an individual profile. All teaching and assessment formats are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and are designed to foster collaborative learning across cultures.

The fifth semester is dedicated to practice: you complete an internship or a transformation project – in a company, NGO, government organization, or startup, in Germany or abroad. In the sixth and final semester, you write your Bachelor's thesis and defend it in a colloquium – the culmination of everything you have built throughout the program.

With a Bachelor's degree in Sustainable Transformation Management, you have a wealth of career opportunities. Here are a few examples:

In sustainability consulting, you support organizations in developing ESG strategies and preparing sustainability reports. You analyze processes, identify areas for improvement, and guide your clients with commitment and expertise toward responsible, future-oriented management.

In CSR and sustainability management, you develop corporate strategies that align economic success with environmental and social responsibility. You implement initiatives, manage reporting processes, and embed sustainable practices reliably within organizational culture – in large corporations as well as in mid-sized companies.

In NGOs and development organizations, you coordinate international projects and develop strategies for sustainable development at regional and global levels. You strengthen local communities, connect stakeholders across cultures, and work with genuine dedication toward a more equitable world.

In public sector project management, you lead transformation initiatives in government agencies, ministries, or municipal administrations. You coordinate participatory processes, manage sustainability projects, and bring management thinking to areas such as urban development, environmental policy, and international development cooperation.

In social and sustainable entrepreneurship, you found or grow organizations that combine economic success with meaningful social impact. You design innovative business models, open new markets in high-growth regions, and demonstrate that sustainability and entrepreneurial ambition are a powerful combination.

In research and academia, you work at universities, research institutes, or think tanks on the questions that will shape our shared future. You analyze societal transformation processes, develop concepts for a sustainable economy, and translate rigorous knowledge into real-world change.

The STM partner universities span a diverse international network – from China, Georgia, and Azerbaijan to Vietnam and Indonesia. Each partner institution brings its own regional perspective and expertise to the program, making STM a genuinely global learning experience. The network continues to grow: additional partner universities are already in the pipeline.

What is a Double Degree program? 
The Double Degree means that you spend at least two semesters of your studies at a partner university abroad – and receive a degree from both Koblenz University of Applied Sciences and your partner institution. The two universities work closely together to make this possible: two degrees, one program.

What does it mean that the program is international? 
In the third and fourth semesters, the entire cohort studies together in Remagen, fully in English. You work in international teams every day, engage with different worldviews, and learn to navigate a culturally diverse environment. You also have the opportunity to spend one or two semesters abroad – optionally earning a second degree from a partner university. In short: this is not just a semester abroad – you study internationally from the very beginning.
