Welcome to the Buddy Program for international students at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences.

The Buddy Program supports international guest and full-time students in finding their way around Koblenz University of Applied Sciences by assigning them a “buddy” who is already familiar with the university and Koblenz.

Buddies

Are you already studying at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, would like to volunteer, and are interested in intercultural exchange? Then sign up to be a “buddy” for international students!

Your benefits:

  • You will get to know students from all over the world and our partner universities.
  • You will expand your intercultural skills.
  • You will learn new languages and cultures.
  • You will receive a certificate of volunteer work.

 

Your tasks:

  • Assistance with orientation at the university and in Koblenz
  • Integration into the student body
  • Support in finding accommodation
  • Individual support with everyday issues
  • Joint participation in International Office activities (at least once a month)

 

Depending on the students you are assigned to support, you will have different areas of focus:

Visiting students from our partner universities arrive about 4 weeks before the official start of the semester and need more intensive support at the beginning of their semester abroad. This includes picking them up from the train station, accompanying them to government offices, and helping them with questions about life in Germany. Communication is mainly in English.

Full-time students have often already been in Germany for some time. Here, the focus is on providing support at the start of their studies and helping them integrate socially into the student body. Communication should be in German, as many international students

Internationals

Are you new to Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, need support, and are looking to make new friends? Then the Buddy Program is just right for you!
 

Your benefits:

  • You will quickly make new friends in Koblenz and get to know the area.
  • You will have a contact person for questions about your studies and the organization at the university.
  • You will attend events organized by the International Office together with your “buddy.”
  • You will learn more about the German language and culture.
  • In the best case scenario, a new acquaintance will turn into a friendship.

 

Please note:

Buddies are not tutors, but friends. It is important that there is mutual interest in the contact.

You should also get involved in the program and regularly participate in events organized by the International Office.

 

How the program works:

Register as an “international” student using the registration form.

You will receive a confirmation email from the International Office. Shortly thereafter, your buddy will contact you.

Arrange individual meetings with your buddy and participate in events organized by the International Office together.
