Diversity

Diversity

Since we live in a pluralistic society, dealing with social heterogeneity is an integral part of our everyday university life and a natural task of higher education. We understand diversity to mean treating each other with respect – on the basis of a heterogeneous university culture that is composed of various dimensions such as gender, ethnic origin, socio-cultural affiliation, religion or worldview, physical and mental abilities, age, sexual orientation and many other factors. The people at our university are characterised by diverse educational, social and cultural backgrounds. We respond to this diversity with openness and sensitivity and promote a culture of tolerance, acceptance and mutual appreciation.

Discrimination of any kind is not tolerated at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences. We take decisive action against any form of discrimination and unequal treatment.

In order to create and maintain an environment that promotes diversity for employees and students, we have implemented or initiated the following measures:

• Training courses that promote diversity-sensitive cooperation.

• Comprehensive counselling services and complaint management in cases of discrimination and unequal treatment.

• Diversity officers at various levels to anchor the importance of diversity at our university.

• Implementation of measures across specific areas of difference, such as reconciling family and caregiving responsibilities with work and study, and making all university services barrier-free and accessible to all.

Koblenz University of Applied Sciences has been awarded the "Diversity Audit" certificate by the Stifterverband. The focus is on creating equal opportunities and educational equity in higher education and teaching.
